Most of the time, I see "LFG for mission and bonus". Now why would anyone be looking for a guild just to complete one mission?

This is the first game of this type that I've played, and I knew the meaning of "LFG" the first time I saw it.

Every single MMORPG that I have ever played (some didnt even have guilds) LFG has meant Looking For Group, everyone has always used it, everyone always WILL use it....also the amount of players looking for a group is MUCH larger than the player base looking for a guild. Its like changing the name of French Fries to Freedom Fries...who the hell called them Freedom Fries? Like 1% of the population. You cant change tradition...at least not easily.

Personally I don't abbreviate it at all. I say the full word, "Looking for group", why abbreviate it? All you have to do is type it once (since after that you can simply press the up key and the last message typed appears. You can even scroll through a number of previous messages).

Stone; I, and most everyone else would take you more seriously if you spent time developing your basic writing and comprehension skills.
Your use of language creates a strong first impression; particularly on the internet.
I get the impression you are illiterate, under 13, or both.
(If you write like an illiterate, don't be offended as being taken for one.)

If you were "net wise" since 1996, you know full well LFG is the standard abbreviation across many MMORPGS as looking for group. But again, I assume you comprehend what an abbreviation is, my mistake.

Regards,

Talesin

wow, i didnt know i had to be University educated to post as long as my points can be understood , which im pretty sure 90% of others here can , tho i thank you for your constructive insults , getting personal insulting me as an illiterate is merely a joke but if you wish to whip your d!ck out & swing it around by all means Go ahead.

I am 29 next month & a father of 9 , i am only self educated so forgive me if i dont add correct grammatical sentances or punctuation.. Besides if i was really educated in that way i would be creating games , not playing them. well maybe a bit of both.

another pet peeve i spose is idiots that think theyre 200+ iq matters in a gaming forum. Hardly official documentation id think. Try Relax a bit.

Anyway , I will post if i have a question & i will post if i want to say something, Im sure now i will be more careful that i dont offend such sophisticated ppl , but i doubt i will be spell checking.
I am your everyday self made bloke with 4 protruded spinal discs wanting to play a game & be apart of the gaming community , i am not a Bot or a Failed uni tech trying to look educated in a gaming forum. I will do my best to use common sense tho .

hrmm Wanna pic perhaps , im the ugly bloke at the bottom...

LFG has been looking for group in the following games...

Ultima Online, Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft.. Im quite sure there are more, but those are the ones I've played..

If you have issues with using LFG as Looking for group, then don't use it, use LFP if you want. It all comes down to personal preference really, the majority though uses and understands LFG. Wanting to get the small percentage of players that actually read and participate in the forums of fan sites to boycott LFG so that LFP gets mainstream is a very unlikely goal considering the circumstances.

But like I said if you dislike the abbrev you don't have to use it. But LFG is mainstream for Looking for Group.

In the end, it's how you wish to take it. I've never taken LFG as "Looking for Guild" but it's a possibility. However, seeing as they are called "PUGs - Pick up Groups" and not "PUPs - Pick up Parties" I'm inclined to say "Looking for Groups" would be the more common usage. However, I could see it being used in either function, it would just require the use of specificity.

LFG: With Hall, Cape, PvP. (Guild)
LFG: Doing Mission (Lvl 20 Me/E) (Group)
LFM: 5/6 doing Mission (Completely Ambiguous) :P

On a side note, another online game I play uses LTB (Looking to Buy) and LTS (Looking to Sell.) This doesn't mean I get "peeved" when I see WTS/WTB, it merely means you have to adapt to the general consensus and not let something trivial affect your gameplay.

So, I guess yes, you're peeing in the wind.

I'll back you on the LFG as soon as you start ranting about people who ask "Do you have rez skill or signet?" or "Everyone equip rez signet if you don't have rez skill." or "What quest gets you the rez signet?". At least the G can stand for group. The last time I looked in a dictionary the letter 'Z' isn't in the word resurrection.

I thought

LFM = Looking For Members

Another thing that throws me off is:

GTG
"Everyone Ready?"
-"gtg!"
"what? you have to go?! damnit. alright"
-"no no, not 'got to go', 'good to go'!"

I've always known gtg = got to go, as in you're leaving :P

Let me get this straight...

You see "LFG" and can't figure out that they're asking for a group not a guild, since "LFG" has meant "Looking for Group" since probably the first game it ever needed to be announced in...

And you're telling these other people that *they* are not-so-bright?

Ok.

Sure.

Have fun with that.
